Keeping in touch with our local community!

NVH Newsletter December 2025

A Busy Time at NVH:

North Valley Hospital has experienced a busy census over the past several weeks. Our teams across the hospital and nursing home continue to work hard to provide safe, compassionate care during times of increased demand. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our patients and families when volumes are high.

Slow Start to Respiratory Season:

So far, this respiratory season has had a slower start than some years. That said, with holiday gatherings, travel, and time spent indoors, respiratory illnesses often increase as winter progresses. We encourage community members to be mindful during gatherings, stay home when sick, practice good hand hygiene, and consider recommended vaccinations to help protect friends, family, and neighbors.

Health Coverage and ACA Subsidies:

We continue to closely watch the news and understand that many patients have concerns about healthcare affordability.

Enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies that were expanded in recent years are scheduled to expire unless Congress acts to renew or modify the program. Congress is currently discussing possible changes, but the outcome and timing are uncertain.

If these enhanced subsidies expire, some patients will see higher monthly insurance premiums or increased out-of-pocket costs. During this period of uncertainty, we want our community to know that North Valley Hospital will continue to work with patients to explore available options. Our staff can help determine whether you qualify for insurance subsidies, financial assistance programs, or other resources that may help reduce healthcare costs.

Holiday Spirit at NVH:

Inside the hospital and Extended Care, departments are celebrating the season with a friendly Christmas tree decorating contest. Each team has brought its own creativity and personality to the displays, helping spread a little extra cheer for staff, patients, and visitors during a busy time of year.

Thank you for trusting North Valley Hospital with your care. We are honored to serve this community and wish you and your loved ones a safe, healthy, and happy holiday season.
