NVH Newsletter May 2026
Celebrating our Team:
May is a special month for healthcare, giving us the opportunity to recognize the incredible teams that keep North Valley Hospital running 24/7. Please join us in celebrating:
National Nurses Week (May 6–12): Our nurses are at the bedside, in the clinics, and in the emergency room every single day, providing expert care with unmatched compassion.
National Hospital Week (May 10–16): It takes an entire village to run a hospital. From housekeeping and dietary services to lab techs, administrative staff, and maintenance, every single team member plays a vital role in community health.
National Skilled Nursing Care Week (May 10–16): We love celebrating our long-term care staff and residents. Thank you to the dedicated team providing a safe, warm, and vibrant home for our residents.
If you see any of our staff members out in the community this month, please join us in thanking them for their dedication to regional healthcare!
Spotlight: NVH Team Members Featured in Statewide Safety Campaign
We are incredibly proud of two of our own North Valley Hospital team members who were recently featured in the statewide "It Starts With One" campaign. This initiative focuses on simple, everyday actions we can take to prevent prescription drug misuse and protect our families.
Our staff members shared vital information on two critical topics:
Safe Medication Storage: Learning how to keep medications locked away safely at home to protect children and teens.
Naloxone (Narcan) Awareness: Understanding how carrying this life-saving medication can reverse an opioid overdose and save a neighbor's life.
Take a few minutes to watch, learn, and see some familiar faces representing NVH on a statewide stage!
What You Need to Know About Measles:
With a recent rise in measles cases across the country, public health safety is top of mind. Measles is a highly contagious respiratory virus that spreads easily through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
Recognizing the Symptoms:
High fever, cough, runny nose, and red, watery eyes.
A characteristic rash that breaks out 3 to 5 days after symptoms begin, usually starting on the face and spreading downward.
How to Protect Your Family:
The MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccine is safe, highly effective, and the best defense available. We urge all residents to check their family’s immunization status. If you or your children need an update, or if you have questions about the vaccine, please reach out to your primary care provider at our clinic to schedule an appointment.
Have a Safe and Happy Memorial Day Weekend
As we look ahead to Memorial Day weekend, we want to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
For many of us, this weekend also marks the official start of outdoor recreation season. As you head out to the trails, lakes, or backyard barbecues, keep these quick safety tips in mind:
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water, especially if you are working outdoors or hiking.
Protect Your Skin: Apply sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) and wear hats or protective clothing.
Play it Safe: Check for ticks after spending time in wooded or tall-grass areas, and always wear life jackets when out on the water.
Holiday Hours Reminder: Our administrative offices and regular clinics will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.
