Edition 37
Union Negotiations:
We have kicked off union negotiations this week with a productive first day and another session scheduled for next week. I am hopeful that we can get this wrapped up fairly quickly. Our teams are currently wrestling with how to make changes to compensation given the uncertainty about Medicaid reimbursement in 2027.
Health Fair:
I would like to invite anyone to stop by our booth at the Oroville Farmers Market this Saturday as part of their health fair-focused event. We will be there alongside other healthcare entities talking about NVH and our services.
RHTP:
Our rural health transformation funds projects are also continuing to move forward. We have gotten our first several projects approved, and yesterday we learned that we were awarded one of the competitive grants for provider technology. While the contract is not finalized yet, assuming nothing derails it, this will invest some new and exciting tech in acute care by replacing the whiteboards in each room with an interactive display. This display can be used for communication, entertainment, patient education, telehealth, and connecting with friends and family.
Workplace Violence Training:
Finally, early next month we have a new training coming to NVH in partnership with Mid Valley Hospital. As part of our workplace violence prevention efforts, we are holding the first in what will be a series of classes for de-escalation and self-defense through the MOAB program. The first class will serve as a pilot and then we plan to expand to more employees over the next few months and into 2027.
Sonic Boom:
Thanks Shawna for the encouragement to conduct our wellness activities for the year. Its fun to see some NVH names in the contests. If you haven’t completed it yet, check it out here: https://wcif.app.sbwell.com
