NVH Newsletter October 2026
Clean Buildings Act:
North Valley Hospital is proud to announce we have successful met the Washington State Clean Buildings Performance Standard for Tier 1 Buildings. We submitted all of our buildings as a unified campus with just over 105,000 square feet. Compliance with the standard has a few options including meeting the energy use target, energy use reductions, or investments. NVH was able to meet our energy use target thanks to the previous investments in our campus. We will continue to log our energy use through the Energy Star program and will strive to maintain our efficiency rating.
Outdoor and Roadway Safety:
As October brings hunting season and less daylight, whether you are heading out into the backcountry or commuting to work, a little extra caution goes a long way.
For those heading to hunt, always verify your target, wear high-visibility blaze orange, and let someone know your exact location and expected return time before heading into remote areas.
These autumn shifts also mean sharing the roads with increased wildlife movement and changing weather conditions. Please keep these driving safety tips in mind this month:
Watch for deer, especially during dawn and dusk.
Slow down in areas with reduced visibility from early morning fog or frost-covered windshields.
Stay alert for parked vehicles and foot traffic along roadways
Flu Season is Here:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend annual flu vaccinations for everyone aged six months and older. By getting your shot early, you help build a protective barrier around vulnerable individuals in our healthcare facilities and the wider community.
Vaccines are available through your primary care provider or local pharmacies. Let's do our part to keep our community healthy and strong all season long.
Recognizing Extraordinary Care:
Our nurses excel caring for patients and families every single day, often going above and beyond to make a difficult time a little brighter. The DAISY Award is an international program that honors the compassionate, skillful care nurses provide day in and day out.
If a nurse has made a meaningful difference for you or a family member, we invite you to share your story.
Take a moment to recognize the exceptional nurses who make such a profound impact on our hospital and extended care families. Nomination forms and drop-off boxes are located throughout the facility, or you can submit an online nomination:
Join Us for Trunk or Treat at Extended Care:
Halloween is just around the corner, and we are getting ready for some festive family fun. North Valley Extended Care is excited to invite staff, residents, families, and community members to our annual Trunk or Treat event.
We are looking for plenty of ghosts, goblins, and superheroes of all ages to come trick-or-treating. It is a wonderful opportunity to connect with our residents and share in the joy of the season.
